We all know that a sleepless flight will lead to a major hangover the next day. That is why many of us take our time in the plane in order to just simply rest and relax. Or  maybe, you have allocated your flight to be your alone time or your time to catch up on your favorite shows or read your favorite books. But before you are able to enter your relaxation zone, your co-passenger has decided to talk to you and ask you questions non stop.
What can you do to subtly shy away from your very talkative seatmate so you can finally commute in peace? Here are some simple ways on how you can do that:

·         Avoid eye contact from the start.
If do not wish to communicate with your seatmate, never ever make eye contact with him. When you make an eye contact with him, he may think that you are giving him the license to communicate.

·         Turn your body slightly away from your seatmate.
If you wish to send across a subtle message, the only way to do that is through body language. Try to rotate your body away from your seatmate so that she will be only be able to see your shoulders and nothing else. If your seatmate still greets you, face her or him and smile then turn your back on him altogether.

·         Open the object that you want to focus on right away.
If you have an intention to make your flight a long reading time, then carry the book to the plane right from the start. Upon sitting down, open the book so that your seatmate will not have any chance to talk to you. You can also put on your headphones, even with no sound playing. The key here is to make yourself look busy so that no one will dare bother you. By doing this, you are making it clear that your attention is elsewhere.

·         Close your eyes.
In the event that all the non verbal clues mentioned above did not work, then just simply close your eyes. You can also lean back for better effect. Just simply pretend that you are getting some rest and maybe, just maybe, your seatmate will finally get the hint. Who knows? Maybe you will actually drift off when you pretend to sleep? Now, it won’t get any better than that.
We cannot deny the fact that there are really some annoying habits of co-travelers. Responding to these habits in a  bad way can certainly lead to an even bigger problem. Deal with annoying plane seatmate properly by following the tips mentioned above.
