Many of us would wish to make the most out of every second of our trip and that is why a lot of us tend to shy away from long layovers. However, you must understand the fact that the longer the layover is, the more affordable the fare is. If you wish to save money, there is nothing that you can do than to deal with long layovers.
Despite their bad reputation, long layovers are not just about long hours of waiting and watching planes at the airport. If you really wish to make every second of your trip count, then that should include your layover too.
Play a game.
Playing games is the best way to pass time. Try to pack one or two board games with you. If you will be traveling with friends, you can surely have fun playing Dominos, Monopoly or Uno with your friends. Another alternative would be to spend time playing online or offline games in your computer.
Make friends.
If you are an outgoing type of person, you will view layovers as a great opportunity to meet people and make new friends. Just simply try to strike up a conversation with someone. Who knows? You might end up having a long, meaningful and very insightful conversation with him.
Enjoy the food options.
If you are a foodie, then you can certainly spend your time trying out the different restaurants and dishes offered in the airport. Before, people think that airport foods are bad but these have all changed now. In fact, lots of airports now offer different types of cuisines-- from local to international to gourmet. Now, you can certainly have your pick.
Leave the airport.
If you are adventurous enough, then dare to leave the airport and do some side trips in your stopover. There are some airports which offer easy access to their city through trains and other modes of transportation. If you have enough time, try to visit a few destinations within the city but make sure to plan your itinerary properly so you can get back to the airport in time.
Exercise.
Your layover is the perfect time for you to catch up on your exercise. There are actually some lounges where you can exercise privately. If you have enough time and baggage allowance, we suggest that you bring your yoga mat with you so you can perform some stretching and get your blood circulating before your next flight.
Layovers can get really boring at times. Sadly, there is no way for you to avoid layovers so the best thing that you can do is to make the most out of it. Include these tips in your list of travel must do's and you can surely enjoy the entire trip-- even the layovers!
